How often should I bathe my dog in Singapore

With Singapore weather being so hot and humid, other than sending your dog for monthly dog grooming, it is also recommended to bathe your dog at least once a week to prevent skin issue.
The frequency also depends on a few areas like your dog’s breed, skin condition, living habit, living environment, and age.
  • Dog breed – Dogs with thicker coat(poodle, samoyed, husky, etc) need to be bath more often as compared to dog with thinner coat(jack russell terrier, mini pinscher, short coat chihuahua, etc)
  • Skin condition – A bath every 4-5 days is needed if your dog has existing skin issue(yeast infection, heat rash, etc)
  • Living habit – If your dog is walked every day, a bath every 4-5 days is also recommended.
  • Living environment – A dog that is kept outside will need more bath than an indoor dog to maintain it’s cleanliness.
  • Age – Mature dog and puppy tend to be messier.
Conclusion: Dogs with thick coat, have skin issues, active, live outdoor and are mature/puppy need a bath every 4-5 days.
I highly recommend dog owner to get a pet blower to blow dry their dog. It will cut blowdrying time by half.
